Sing iN Spain with iNCANTATO: Montserrat Abbey Recitals 2018

February 1, 2018 / Inside Europe

Montserrat monastery is a must-see for any visitor to Barcelona.

The complex sits atop a 7 miles long and 3 1/2 miles wide mountain, at almost 4,000 feet.
It is one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in Spain, only topped by Santiago de Compostela. Highlight for most is to see and touch he medieval statue of La Moreneta (the Black Virgin), the patron saint of Catalonia.

Montserrat is also home to the 50-member Escolanía, one of the oldest and most renowned boys’ choirs in Europe, dating back to the 13th century. The boys perform daily, at 1 pm, singing “Salve Regina” and the hymn of Montserrat “Virolai” in the stunning  basilica.

What better way to experience this incredible space for choirs than by presenting a recital in the magnificent space — a highlight of any iNCANTATO concert tour. Mark your calendars for the spring of 2018 for these special moments featuring these fine touring ensembles:

Friday, March 9, 2018: Bellarmine University Oratorio Society (12:40 pm)

Friday, March 16, 2018: Western Reserve Academy Choir (12:40 pm)

Easter Monday, April 2, 2018: Mater Dei Catholic High School Choirs (1:15 PM)

Visit iNCANTATO CONCERT TOURS on Facebook for more information and our on-tour live coverage of these and other highlight performances during the actual iNSIDE EUROPE experiences.
